2 Gardner residents useless after 3-car crash in New Salem, authorities say

An 89-year-old and 74-year-old from Gardner died after a three-car crash on Route 202 in New Salem, the Northwestern District Lawyer’s Workplace mentioned in an announcement.

The 2 folks, who had been the motive force and passenger of 1 car concerned within the collision, had been pronounced useless on the scene of the Friday crash, Northwestern District Lawyer David Sullivan mentioned.

“Several other people from the two other vehicles involved in the crash were taken to Athol Memorial Hospital after suffering injuries. A driver of one of those vehicles was transported by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester,” Sullivan mentioned in an announcement.

Route 202 was shut down for “several hours” whereas the roadway was cleared, Sullivan mentioned.

The reason for the crash is underneath investigation, the Northwestern District Lawyer’s Workplace mentioned.

The identities of the opposite folks concerned within the collision weren’t instantly made public.
