Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is getting actual about why he thinks former Vice President Kamala Harris misplaced towards President Donald Trump within the 2024 presidential marketing campaign.
Showing on “The Tim Dillon Show” Wednesday, Sanders claimed that Harris didn’t are likely to the wants of working class Individuals sufficient, noting Trump triumphed within the election due to “money in politics.”
The dialog kicked off after host Tim Dillion mentioned that “a lot of people” had been “shocked” that the Democratic social gathering “put out” former President Joe Biden as a “candidate with clear cognitive issues.”
“And then without a primary, Kamala Harris, who was relatively unpopular in the Democratic primaries, was then the candidate. And she only had 90 days to sell herself to the American people. And by the way, she did a decent job for [only] having 90 days,” Dillion continued.
Dillion went on to ask Sanders, “Why is there such a cover-up with Biden’s mental decline? Why is there no primary, a quick one even, after he is judged unfit to run? Why is there no transparency there? That’s a huge problem.”
Calling Harris, whom he ran towards within the 2020 presidential election, an “incredibly intelligent” and “focused” particular person, Sanders flat out informed Dillion that the downfall of her marketing campaign was not tackling the actual points that working class Individuals are up towards, together with well being care and housing.
“I think the reason that she lost that election gets back to the point we discussed at the beginning of this podcast and that is money in politics,” he mentioned. “Kamala did not run a campaign focused on the needs of the working class, didn’t run a campaign focused on health care, on economics and raising the minimum wage, on paid family and medical leave, on housing, on all of the issues that working people are struggling with right now.”
Biden dropped his reelection bid in late July 2024 after a ruinous debate towards Trump in June, leaving Harris simply a few months to forge a marketing campaign.
The Vermont senator added, “And I think her not focusing on those issues allowed Trump to win, in my view.”
Showing on ABC’s “The View” final month, Harris was requested what she thought was the “primary reason” she didn’t win the race.
“There are many factors I think that played into the outcome of that election, but, I think probably one of the biggest in my mind is we just didn’t have enough time,” Harris replied.
