2-alarm blaze in Dorchester sends firefighter to hospital, displaces 2 residents

Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fireplace in a Dorchester multi-family house Tuesday morning.

The Boston Fireplace Division responded at round 8:30 a.m. to a heavy blaze coming from the rear aspect of the second and third tales at 25 Practice St.

The division reported that the occupants have been secure. Nevertheless, one firefighter was transported to the hospital. Two residents have been displaced, in response to BFD.

“The companies here did a great job” mentioned Deputy Chief Brian Tully on the scene. “They stopped it from going to any of the exposed buildings. I’m glad that everybody’s OK.”

Damages have been estimated to be about $500,000.

The reason for the hearth is below investigation by the Boston Fireplace Division.

Tully mentioned the onset of of chilly climate, presents a number of latest challenges, “frozen hydrants, ice, space heaters, a whole bunch of different challenges for the fire services.”

The division introduced at 10:18 a.m. that element corporations would stay on the scene for any hotspots.
