Washington safety Deshazor Everett was injured in a fatal single-car accident Thursday night that killed a female passenger, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The office said Everett, a special teams captain, was driving a 2010 Nissan GT-R on Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road when he left the right side of the road, struck several trees and rolled over at about 9:15 p.m.
Olivia Peters, a 29-year-old woman from Las Vegas, died from her injuries suffered in the accident. She was initially taken to Stone Springs Hospital, where she later succumbed to the injuries.
Everett suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Reston Hospital Center.
An active investigation into the crash is underway.
Washington issued a statement Friday in wake of the incident.
“We’ve been made aware of an automobile accident last night involving Deshazor Everett,” the team said. “A passenger in his vehicle lost their life and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends who lost a loved one. … Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this tragedy. Our team has alerted the league office and is working with local authorities as we continue to gather more information.”
Everett, 29, has been with Washington since 2015.
