Amtrak service between New York Metropolis and Boston restored after lightning causes malfunction

NEW YORK (AP) — Amtrak rail service between New York and Boston was restored after a lightning strike was believed to have induced a circuit breaker to malfunction, the rail service introduced Saturday evening.

The malfunction induced an influence outage on all tracks between Penn Station in New York and Union Station in New Haven, Connecticut, starting Saturday afternoon.

Amtrak introduced the service had been restored in an announcement posted on its web site.

Night trains between Boston and Virginia have been working on schedule Saturday. Most trains have been anticipated to be on schedule Sunday, though some Sunday prepare companies have been cancelled and others have been anticipated to function on a modified schedule, the corporate stated.

Prospects with reservations on affected trains can be accommodated on trains with related departure occasions or on different days, the rail service stated Saturday.

Amtrak stated it might waive extra prices for patrons trying to alter reservations.
