Boston Police seize 9 extra mopeds in metropolis crackdown

Police seized 9 extra mopeds within the latest crackdown on unlawful car operations within the downtown areas.

With the addition of the 13 mopeds seized on July 8 in Again Bay, Monday’s seizure of 9 in Downtown Crossing brings the two-week complete to 22.

“The Boston Police Department would like to remind everyone that vehicles are strictly prohibited in the Downtown Crossing pedestrian zone. This area is designated for pedestrian use only to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors,” the Boston Police Division wrote in a Tuesday assertion.

Officers had been dispatched a little bit after 5 p.m. on Monday to the intersection of Franklin and Washington streets downtown “on a directed foot-patrol to stop all motorcycles and/or mopeds operating in the pedestrian zone of Washington St. where no vehicles are authorized to travel in.”

Officers issued verbal warnings, citations and one summons for numerous motorized vehicle regulation infractions.

Police say that further pedestrian zones the place motorized visitors is barred embrace the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, Quincy Market and Faneuil Corridor.
