WEEI Purple Sox radio announcer will probably be calling video games for the New York Knicks: ‘The opportunity of a lifetime’

Date:

A neighborhood broadcaster who has been floated as a full-time, play-by-play announcer for Boston groups is heading to the Huge Apple.

Worcester Purple Sox broadcaster Tyler Murray, who has been heard on the New England sports activities airwaves for years and has been calling some Boston Purple Sox video games on WEEI this season, would be the play-by-play radio announcer for the New York Knicks.

The Connecticut native mentioned calling Knicks video games is “the opportunity of a lifetime.”

“The Knicks are building something special at MSG, and I’m so excited to have a role in telling their story,” Murray posted on Thursday.

“It’s the dream I’ve had for as long as I can remember,” he added. “Incredibly thankful for the opportunity of a lifetime, and for everyone who has lifted me up to make it possible.”

Murray will probably be broadcasting video games on 880 New York Radio.

“.@LT__Murray joins MSG Networks as a play-by-play announcer for the New York Knicks on 880 New York Radio!” MSG Networks posted.
