The mundane melts away below the smoldering grooves of Purple Disco Machine‘s music in his gorgeous new album, Paradise.
Out now through Sony Music, Paradise is the Grammy-winning producer’s most evocative physique of labor but. The electrical tingle of anticipation earlier than a primary kiss, the heat of sunshine on naked pores and skin, the bubbling laughter of a shared inside joke—the album is a passport to these experiences.
By way of 15 tracks and bubbly collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Metronomy, Duke Dumont and extra, PDM affords his interpretations of what it means to really really feel alive. There is no skips right here, simply dopamine-fueled nu-disco with a retro contact.
A surefire spotlight comes with the synth-soaked “Bad Company,” a monitor with sufficient cowbells to lastly fulfill Will Ferrell. One other standout is the MORGAN-assisted “Can’t Stop Loving You,” the place PDM dials down the tempo to drop a slow-burning dance-pop monitor akin to velvet curtains and cognac.
Elsewhere, his infectious melodies burrow their means into your consciousness with the vocoder-laden “Heartbreaker,” a funky collaboration with Chromeo. The same goes for “All My Life,” a walk-on-air disco anthem that fires up the nostalgia machine to a time when the genre ruled the night, but with a contemporary twist that keeps it fresh and relevant.
Purple Disco Machine is now taking Paradise on an eponymous tour in which he’s performing with a full band for the first time in his career. The new live show is “like nothing I’ve ever executed earlier than,” he said in a press release.
