Massachusetts correction officers hospitalized after hearth in jail cell space

Date:

Two Bay State correction officers had been hospitalized after a fireplace broke out in a cell space at MCI-Norfolk over the weekend.

The correction officers had been taken to space hospitals for smoke inhalation Sunday afternoon, in response to the Massachusetts Division of Correction. No incarcerated people requested therapy for smoke inhalation.

The officers returned to work later that night time.

“State Police fire investigators are working with Norfolk FD and DOC to determine the origin and cause of the fire,” a Division of Hearth Providers spokesperson mentioned in a press release.

“Based on their examination of the scene, they do not believe it was intentionally set,” the spokesperson added.

MCI-Norfolk is the biggest medium safety stage facility in Massachusetts, housing criminally sentenced males.
