ICE Boston arrests unlawful immigrant convicted of battery on a member of the family

Federal immigration brokers arrested a Guatemalan nationwide within the nation illegally who has beforehand been convicted a number of instances in Massachusetts of assault and battery on a member of the family.

Wilber Chinic-Villagran, 27, was convicted in Framingham District Courtroom on Oct. 23, 2024, on two counts of assault and battery on a household/houshold member, intimidation, and violating the Abuse Prevention Act, for which he was sentenced to 18 months in jail — however all however 4 of these months have been suspended.

He was subsequently convicted two months afterward an addition assault and battery on a member of the family cost, with a equally shortened sentence.

“Wilber Chinic-Villagran illegally came to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and committed some horrendous crimes,” Patricia Hyde, the director of the Boston area workplace of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Elimination Operations (ERO).

“We simply will not tolerate such a threat to the residents of our Massachusetts communities. ICE Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing egregious alien offenders from New England,” Hyde continued.

Chinic was first arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol in July 2020 after he illegally entered the U.S. close to Laredo Texas. He was returned to Mexico. He then reentered at an unknown date and placement.

ICE lodged an immigration detainer towards Chinic when he was arrested in Middlesex County, in keeping with ICE. This detainer was not honored by the Framingham District Courtroom, in keeping with ICE.
