Official Artist Retailer Launched For Nick Drake

A brand new, devoted storefront for enigmatic late singer-songwriter Nick Drake has launched. A message on the web page—which performs a snippet of Drake performing dwell alongside footage of a slightly-ajar window—reads: “Something is coming, sign up to be the first to hear.”

Though he died at simply 26 in 1974, Drake’s legacy has cemented him as some of the beloved artists of his technology. He launched three albums throughout his lifetime: 1969’s 5 Leaves Left, 1971’s Bryter Layter, and 1972’s Pink Moon. A number of posthumous albums of his again catalogue have additionally been launched.

Drake has been cited as an affect by the likes of Kate Bush, Aimee Mann, Beck, and The Remedy’s Robert Smith. He rigorously crafted his spare sound over the course of his profession—his last album, Pink Moon, options simply his voice, acoustic guitar and a single piano overdub on the title monitor. Engineer John Wooden, who labored carefully with Drake on the album, shared: “He was very determined to make this very stark, bare record. He definitely wanted it to be him more than anything. It’s unclear what precisely the “something coming” is from Drake’s camp. In 2023, creator Richard Morton Jack revealed the primary biography of Drake approved by his household and property, Nick Drake: The Life. It drew on in depth unique analysis and interviews with Drake’s household, associates and musical collaborators. It included over 75 archival pictures, and included a foreword from the late singer-songwriter’s sister, actress Gabrielle Drake.
