In late 1953, “Mystery Train” was recorded by a band led by Herman Parker. Herman, higher referred to as “Little Junior,” grew up in Clarksdale, Mississippi throughout the Nineteen Thirties. After working with Howlin’ Wolf’s band he fashioned his personal group, the Blues Flames, in 1952. “Mystery Train” was the follow-up to “Feelin’ Good,” his Solar debut. “Mystery Train” has its roots in an previous folks track referred to as “Worried Man Blues” that the Carter Household recorded in 1930. That track was lined by Woody Guthrie in 1944 and by Lonnie Donegan within the Fifties.

“When I first heard ‘Mystery Train,’ Little Junior Parker hadn’t quite worked it out.
