2-alarm fireplace scorches roof of downtown constructing

One lone firefighter noticed an outpouring of smoke from a constructing within the Monetary District  on Wednesday, alerting the division and resulting in a fast evacuation of the occupants.

At about 2 p.m., Boston Hearth mentioned, the “heavy black smoke” was noticed pouring from the roof of the multi-story constructing 128 Milk St. round downtown.

A second alarm was instantly ordered because the blaze swept the roof.

“We were fortunate to have a Firefighter doing a detail in the area, who called it in and made sure everyone was evacuated,” Boston Hearth posted on X on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters needed to climb seven tales with gear to get the hose line to the roof, the division mentioned. Corporations brough “multiple hose lines to the roof,” Boston Hearth mentioned, pulling down the heavy fireplace.

The responders carried out “major overhauling of hot spots on the roof.”

Simply after 3:30 p.m., Boston Hearth reported the hearth had been knocked down and “detail fire companies will remain on scene to monitor any hot spots.”
