Trash continued to pile up throughout greater than a dozen Jap Massachusetts cities and cities as garbagemen remained on strike for a fifth day, this time with help from a neighborhood firefighter’s union.
A contingent of the 450 members of Teamsters Native 25 continued their strike as negotiations proceed with Republic Companies, a waste administration firm with operations throughout the nation together with Massachusetts, with an indication Saturday afternoon on Newbury Road in Peabody.
However they weren’t alone: members of Peabody Firefighters Native 925 union confirmed up in solidarity.
“We will be delivering supplies and walking the line with our fellow union brothers and sisters in their ongoing fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job,” Peabody Firefighters union president Kory Desmond wrote in a name to motion for “solidarity.”
The strike in Massachusetts started on the primary of the month, in line with the Teamsters union, which added that different Teamsters unions are having comparable contract disputes with Republic.
“The strike will take as long as necessary to make certain that Republic Teamsters get what they’ve rightfully earned,” Thomas G. Mari, the president of the native Teamsters union, mentioned in a latest assertion.
