Alyssa Milano honored her former “Charmed” co-star and on-screen husband, Julian McMahon, with a transferring tribute on Instagram.
McMahon, who portrayed the difficult and beloved character Cole Turner within the sequence, died on July 2 after a battle with most cancers. This week, in a second of remembrance, Milano shared a tribute rooted in respect and inventive kinship.
“I’m heartbroken. Julian McMahon was magic,” she wrote. “That smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. He walked into a room and lit it up—not just with charisma, but with kindness. With mischief. With soulful understanding.”
Milano shared they have been “different,” however by some means “always understood each other,” and that he “challenged,” “teased,” and “supported” her.
“Julian was more than my TV husband,” she wrote. “He was a dear friend.”
She described dropping him as “unfair” and “unreal,” feelings that spoke to the bond they shared.
“My heart is with Kelly, with Madison, and with Iliana—his girls, his world,” she wrote, referring to the household he left behind. “He adored them. You could feel it in every conversation, every story, every text. He was a family man above all, and he loved deeply.”
His spouse, Kelly McMahon, confirmed the demise of the Australian actor in a press release to Deadline on Friday: “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.”
