U.S. Senator Ed Markey endorsed Boston Mayor Michelle Wu in her reelection marketing campaign.
Markey made the endorsement Monday at a press convention in Jamaica Plain, the place the mayor touted how her initiatives have made Boston the “greenest city in the country,” per an advisory from the Wu marketing campaign.
“She’s invested in affordable housing, worked to reduce gun violence and make Boston the safest city in America, and has made transformational action on climate change central to her vision for Boston,” Markey stated in an announcement shared by the Wu marketing campaign.
“Her proposals to expand access to free public transportation, decarbonize our economy, and invest in the basic rights of clean air and water will put Boston on a path to implement the systemic changes we need to provide our children, workers, and families a just and livable future,” the senator added.
Wu and Markey have each pushed for implementation of a so-called Inexperienced New Deal to deal with local weather change on the native and federal stage, respectively.
The mayor is working for a second, four-year time period. Her principal challenger is Josh Kraft, a son of the billionaire New England Patriots proprietor Robert Kraft and longtime philanthropist.
