Gov. Maura Healey traveled to France final week on trip with household

Gov. Maura Healey mentioned she traveled to the Provence area of France over the previous week along with her household, a disclosure that shed some gentle on a visit the governor launched into shortly after signing the yearly state finances and asserting a sequence of maneuvers to rein in state spending.

“My partner had spent time there as a young child on and off for many years, so it was a special family trip to take her dad and siblings back to see that part,” Healey advised reporters. “I missed the first week when they were in Paris, but I joined for the tail end, and we returned on Saturday afternoon.”

Healey left the state shortly after signing a $61 billion finances that maps out spending for the following 12 months and rolls out a sequence of maneuvers to regulate prices. Her administration argues that Massachusetts may face fiscal troubles due to actions taken by President Donald Trump.

Republicans working for governor took intention at Healey after it grew to become clear she was out of city.

A spokesperson for Mike Kennealy, one other Republican working for governor, mentioned Healey was vacationing in France “while Massachusetts families struggle to make ends meet due to skyrocketing energy costs and declining affordability.”

“We need a governor who takes this job seriously and acts with urgency and that leader is Mike Kennealy,” the spokesperson, Logan Trupiano, mentioned in a press release.

Healey traveled to Fall River Monday morning after a minimum of 9 individuals died and greater than 30 had been injured in a nighttime hearth at an assisted dwelling facility.
