Fenway staff to strike Friday by Dodgers collection if contract talks fail

Date:

Fenway and MGM concessions staff will go on strike if a contract deal just isn’t reached by Friday, the UNITE HERE Native 26 union staff introduced Wednesday.

“We are here today to announce a 48-hour deadline to get this contract settled,” stated Native 26 President Carlos Aramayo. “Aramark and Fenway Park have 48 hours to get this done. If this is not done by noon on Friday, we are walking the workers at Fenway Park and MGM off the job.”

The Native 26 union, representing cashiers, cooks, barbacks, memento distributors, utility staff and extra at MGM Music Corridor and Fenway park, voted by 95% to authorize a strike in June. If a deal just isn’t met by Friday, the strike would mark the first-ever in park’s 113-year historical past.

The strike would hit the park because the Pink Sox are set to play the Dodgers in a three-game collection over the weekend. Organizers stated the strike would final by the collection, and the union would focus on then whether or not to proceed.

Native 26 staff stated they’ve been in negotiations with the corporate Aramack and Fenway Park for six months. The union stated they’re searching for important pay raises, job safety amid the rise of automation and extra.
