A 91-year-old girl was discovered lifeless after a fireplace broke out at a Middleborough dwelling early Monday morning, in keeping with native authorities.
Middleborough Fireplace Chief Owen Thompson stated crews “quickly” arrived at 72 Everett St. after reviews of a home hearth got here in round 2:52 a.m.
Firefighters encountered “heavy fire conditions” in a two-story, multi-family dwelling with flames exhibiting by a number of first-floor home windows.
Crews entered the house and located the 91-year-old girl, who authorities stated had not been in a position to escape the home and was pronounced lifeless on the scene.
“This was a tragic situation. Unfortunately, this was the third fatal fire within two years in the Town of Middleborough,” Thompson stated in a press release. “However, our firefighters responded professionally. They did an excellent job attacking the fire and aggressively extinguishing the flames, especially considering the amount of fire they encountered as they first arrived.”
Authorities didn’t establish the girl.
Nobody else was injured in the course of the hearth, and three different occupants of the home had been in a position to exit the constructing earlier than firefighters arrived on scene, in keeping with authorities.
