The fallout continues from final 12 months’s viral subject hockey shot from a boy that severely injured a woman, as a neighborhood faculty district just lately handed a coverage that may enable gamers to take a seat out video games with none repercussions.

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Faculty Committee has authorised a coverage that lets student-athletes not play in video games in opposition to groups with gamers of the alternative intercourse.

Additionally, coaches gained’t be penalized for forfeiting video games in opposition to such groups.

This new “Interscholastic Athletics” coverage just lately handed within the wake of the notorious subject hockey damage final fall. The Swampscott Excessive Faculty boy participant’s shot struck a Dighton-Rehoboth Excessive Faculty participant within the face, sending her to the hospital with important facial and dental accidents, in line with officers.

“We respect and understand the complexity and concerns that exist regarding student safety,” the MIAA stated on the time. “However, student safety has not been a successful defense to excluding students of one gender from participating on teams of the opposite gender. The arguments generally fail due to the lack of correlation between injuries and mixed-gender teams.”
