Akon’s video for hit single “Right Now (Na Na Na)” is the newest to affix the YouTube Billions Membership. The popularity goes to movies which have surpassed a couple of billion views on the platform.

Launched in September 2008, the Euro club-inspired smash is the lead single from Akon’s third studio album, Freedom. The music video, directed by Anthony Mandler, finds the singer taking part in an agent on a mission to extract a reminiscence card from a girl (who performed his lover in 2007’s “Don’t Matter” video). Clips of Akon reminiscing on happier occasions with one other ex-girlfriend are interspersed all through the video, which ends with him finishing his mission.

“Right Now (Na Na Na)” peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Sizzling 100 and is licensed Platinum by the RIAA. The video is Akon’s fourth to affix YouTube’s Billions Membership, following his 2005 video for “Lonely”, 2006’s “Smack That” that includes Eminem, and 2011’s “Play Hard” by David Guetta, which options each Akon and Ne-Yo. “Lonely” and “Smack That” hit this milestone in 2023, with “Play Hard” hitting it in 2020.

In 2024, to have a good time the album’s twentieth anniversary, UMe launched a digital deluxe of the document together with restricted version and expanded vinyl. The digital deluxe featured new-to-streaming tracks like “Locked Up (Remix)” that includes Types P & Taz, “Locked Up (Remix)” that includes Azad, “Locked Up (Remix)” that includes Booba, and “Ghetto (Remix).”
