Allston music venue Nice Scott to return in a brand new location

The storied Allston music venue Nice Scott will lastly return, possession introduced 4 years after the neighborhood staple closed its doorways.

“We’re coming home, Allston,” the Nice Scott Instagram account posted on Tuesday. “Great Scott, the legendary live music venue that has been a cornerstone of Boston’s music scene since 1976, is set to make a highly anticipated return just up Harvard Ave from its original location.”

The beloved Allston music venue closed in 2020 because of the pandemic after over 40 years as a staple within the Boston music scene and was changed by a Taco Bell Cantina. The 240-capacity venue hosted many locals in addition to rising stars together with Jack Harlow, MGMT, Phoebe Bridgers and Charli XCX.

Following its closure, locals fought for its return, possession mentioned, compiling an over 25,000-signature petition and elevating over $300,000. Possession was held up looking for “the right spot,” the announcement submit mentioned.

The brand new location allowed the possession to purchase the venue and be the owner, the Nice Scott submit said. The Nice Scott’s long-time reserving supervisor Carl Lavin, Redefined CEO Paul Armstrong and Jordan Warshaw of the Noannet Group had been concerned within the buy.

The property may even host the venue’s “long-time sister club” O’Brien’s Pub and supply extra retail house and rental housing.

“The new club will retain the intimacy and feel of the original venue, but with behind-the-scenes improvements such as modern back-of-house facilities and state-of-the-art sound and lighting to attract the best local and touring talent,” the submit said.

The property may even host the venue’s “long-time sister club” O’Brien’s Pub and supply extra retail house and rental housing, the submit said, “ensuring that Great Scott and O’Brien’s Pub remain cultural landmarks in Allston for decades to come.”
