A 44-year-old Boston man has been arrested after allegedly slamming his car right into a Mass State Police cruiser a number of occasions, in response to police.
Keion Rowell was taken into custody on Tuesday following final week’s incident close to the Jackson Sq. Orange Line station — when he allegedly used his car to ram a State Police cruiser after which fled on foot.
The trooper within the rammed cruiser was transported to a neighborhood hospital for analysis.
Rowell is now being charged with: assault and battery with a harmful weapon; reckless operation of a motorized vehicle; leaving the scene of a crash inflicting private harm; trafficking in cocaine; and driving with a suspended license.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday, State Police troopers deployed a “Star Chase tracking device” on a car that did not cease in Boston.
“Star Chase technology is currently being piloted by the State Police with the goal of de-escalating and avoiding dangerous pursuits,” State Police stated. “… Troopers with proper training deploy the device and use built in location technology to pursue individuals who evade police on the roads and could do further harm in the community.”
Troopers later tracked down the car to Boston’s Thwing Avenue — a useless finish close to the Jackson Sq. Orange Line station.
As the primary trooper approached the car in his cruiser, the suspect allegedly rammed the police cruiser a number of occasions along with his car, exited, and fled on foot.
Troopers reportedly discovered trafficking weight narcotic proof on the scene, and recognized the suspect.
Members of the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Part, Troop H Neighborhood Motion Crew, Troop H Tunnels Barracks, Randolph Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service Massachusetts Process Power arrested Rowell in Randolph on Tuesday.
