An area man has been arrested after three lifeless canines had been present in a U-Haul truck with a “terrible smell emanating from it,” police mentioned.
William Cobb, 33, of Boston, was arrested in Weymouth on Friday in reference to the animal cruelty case out of Mattapan.
Boston cops earlier this week had been dispatched to the primary block of Edgewater Drive in Mattapan.
“Upon arrival, officers located an abandoned U-Haul truck with a terrible smell emanating from it,” police mentioned in an announcement. “Officers opened the truck, and observed three deceased dogs. Animal Control was requested to respond to the scene for the removal of the dogs.”
Bugs had been reportedly flying across the van, police mentioned.
The lifeless canines had been “bloated,” possible due to the latest warmth wave.
Members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Drive and the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit arrested Cobb on Friday.
He was needed on a straight warrant for 3 counts of animal cruelty issued out of Dorchester District Court docket.
