Botulism instances tied to Botox injections at Milton spa, state warns

Date:

The Massachusetts Division of Public Health warned the general public of a rising cluster of botulism instances linked to Botox injections carried out in Milton on Sunday — advising anybody who just lately had the process completed at Rodrigo Magnificence to contact the division “immediately.”

The division is investigating 10 instances of “suspected iatrogenic botulism” related to the beauty procedures completed on the spa Rodrigo Magnificence, positioned at 464 Granite Ave., DPH mentioned.

Iatrogenic botulism is a “rare but serious illness caused by botulinum toxin spreading beyond the injection site, potentially leading to life-threatening symptoms,” state officers mentioned.

“Anyone who received Botox injections at Rodrigo Beauty between May 1 and June 4 this year is strongly urged to contact the Massachusetts Department of Public Health at 617-983-6800 or their local board of health immediately, even if they are not currently experiencing symptoms,” DPH mentioned.

Signs of botulism embody “blurred or double vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, or breathing difficulties,” DPH warned. The division suggested sufferers and healthcare suppliers must be “alert for symptoms” following Botox injections.
