Date:

Allston and Brighton residents stepped outdoors right into a cool, clear fall day to rejoice their group in the course of the annual neighborhood parade Sunday.

“We’ve got great music, great food, great people here,” stated three-year resident Jeremy Collins, because the Rat Metropolis Arts Competition marchers handed out rat-awareness stickers. “I loved living in the area, even with the rats.”

Neighbors got here out in crowds Sunday to see the parade go by from Union Sq. in Allston to Brighton Heart to Oak Sq.. The forty first annual parade kicked off at 1 p.m.

It was preceded by the annual Brian Honan 5K in Allston and adopted by a three-hour boisterous “Party in the Park” at Hardiman “Tar” Park close to the top of the parade route in Oak Sq..

The parade was led by Mayor Michelle Wu, Metropolis Councilor Liz Breadon and others. The festivities stuffed the streets with an extended checklist of marchers together with highschool and school marching bands and cheerleaders, characters like Captain Jack Sparrow and Elsa, floats decked out to resemble canines, and various group teams and figures.
