Attendees of the 2024 Motion Digital Music Pageant at Detroit’s Hart Plaza have evacuated the grounds as a result of extreme climate.
Motion’s organizers issued an alert by way of social media at 6:43pm on Sunday, the pageant’s second day.
“Attention: Severe weather is heading to Hart Plaza,” the alert reads. “All attendees must evacuate immediately. Please head to the nearest exit point.”
Ticket-holders swiftly evacuated Hart Plaza as a storm rolled in, an onsite EDM.com employees member masking Motion confirmed. Rain and thunder battered the pageant’s grounds in addition to 17 mile-per-hour wind gusts, per AccuWeather.

The gates ultimately reopened shortly after 10pm in time for the evening’s scheduled headliners, together with techno superstars Richie Hawtin, Nicole Moudaber and 999999999. Idris Elba and legendary Detroit techno producer Kevin Saunderson closed out Motion’s mainstage, the Pyramid Stage, with a hotly anticipated collaborative DJ set.
Motion’s remaining day, Monday, Could twenty seventh, will resume as deliberate. The pageant’s gates are scheduled to open at 2pm and it’ll run till 11pm.
