Ethel Kennedy hospitalized after struggling a stroke: ‘Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers’

Ethel Kennedy has been hospitalized after struggling a stroke, in response to her grandson Joe Kennedy III.

The 96-year-old widow of Robert F. Kennedy suffered the stroke in her sleep final week, the previous Massachusetts congressman posted on social media Tuesday night.

“She was brought to an area hospital, where she is now receiving treatment,” Ethel’s grandson posted. “She is comfortable, she is getting the best care possible, and she is surrounded by family.

“She is, as you may know, a strong woman who has led a remarkably fulfilling life,” JKIII added. “We are here looking after her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”

The Kennedy household matriarch, the mom of 11 kids, based the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights nonprofit in 1969 to hold forth her husband’s legacy. RFK was assassinated whereas working for president in 1968.

Ethel has additionally co-chaired the Coalition of Gun Management, and has been concerned with different human rights organizations.

“For more than half a century, my mom has been a champion for justice, standing with human rights defenders around the globe,” her daughter Kerry Kennedy posted when Ethel turned 96 earlier this 12 months.

“Her courage and dedication to #HumanRights motivate our team every day, inspiring us to hold governments accountable, promote human rights education and #YouthOrganizing, advance #dignity and #equality in workplaces and investment communities, and uplift grassroots changemakers,” Kerry wrote.

Her grandson JFKIII shared on Tuesday that Ethel had an incredible summer season and early fall.

“Every day she enjoyed time with her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,” he posted. “She was able to get out on the water, visit the pier, and enjoy many lunches and dinners with family. It has been a gift to all of us and to her as well.”
