CNN commentator Van Jones stated he practically puked after his community colleague David City in contrast President Donald Trump to the “Colossus of Rhodes” in an extolling rant.
Throughout Monday’s episode of “Anderson Cooper 360°,” host Cooper spearheaded a dialogue with Jones, City, and Trump’s former communications director, Alyssa Farah Griffin, in regards to the president and his supporters repeatedly floating the thought of him serving a 3rd time period.
“Steve Bannon mysteriously talks about, ‘We’ve got this plan.’ I don’t know what kind of plan you could have,” City, a former senior Trump marketing campaign adviser, started.
Earlier this month, Bannon, one other one among Trump’s former advisers, bolstered the rumors that the politician may attempt to manipulate his method into an extra time period in 2028.
Arguing that there are “many different alternatives” that may get Trump reelected whereas showing on the “Batya!” section for NewsNation, Bannon stated he “fully intend[s] to see” Trump “on the ballot in 2028 and to return to office.”
“[If Trump is] on the ballot, he’ll win,” the conservative pundit bluntly added on the time.
City identified to Cooper and his fellow panelists that Trump may “amend” the structure and “challenge” the twenty second Modification in courtroom, which states “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”
Noting that revising the Structure is the one technique through which Trump may serve once more, the lobbyist added, “It seems pretty clear.”
City went on to say that Trump is “teasing a primary [election]” between Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marc Rubio after the president remarked earlier within the day that Vance and Rubio could possibly be an “unstoppable” ticket for 2028.
“Let no one be fooled to think that Donald Trump is going anywhere,” City declared. “He may not be president, but he’s gonna be sitting at Bedminster or in Palm Beach.”

He continued, “Can you imagine if you are President JD Vance, and every day you wake up to a slew of Truth Social posts and tweets about Donald Trump reviewing your performance from the night before?”
Predicting that “Trump will remain large on the stage in American politics and global politics until he does not remain anymore,” Urban then appeared to compare Trump to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
“I mean, the guy is the Colossus at Rhodes and will remain that way,” Urban added, apparently referring to the massive, bronze statue of the Greek sun god Helios that was reportedly destroyed by an earthquake in 226 BC.
Urban’s comments didn’t sit too well with Jones, who was a special adviser for former President Barack Obama.
After Anderson asked Jones “how seriously” he took Urban’s comments, the political analyst and Trump critic replied, “I’m sorry, I’m trying not to vomit on the air listening to this from Urban.”
“Are you envisioning the Colossus of Rhodes?” Cooper then requested Jones as City laughed.
“Just the whole thing, man,” Jones said. “But look, I take it seriously just because there doesn’t seem to be very much respect for the Constitution, for rule of law from this White House and from his people.”
