A college bus with Boston college students getting back from a discipline journey erupted in flames on I-93 in Dorchester Monday afternoon, sending 4 college students to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The constitution bus carrying eighth grade college students and workers from Boston Public Colleges’ Josiah Quincy Higher Faculty caught fireplace close to exit 14 on I-93 north — as passing motorists noticed smoke billowing from the yellow bus.
All the college students and workers had been in a position to evacuate the bus earlier than it caught fireplace, college officers mentioned.
“Four students were taken to a local hospital for further medical evaluation due to smoke from the fire,” Heads of Faculty Richard Chang and Stephen Cirasuolo wrote to households in a letter.

Site visitors on I-93 north was impacted by the bus fireplace.
“In #Boston, bus fire has closed all lanes on I-93 NB at exit 14. Traffic is being diverted off I-93 NB at exit 13 to Morrissey Boulevard,” the Massachusetts Division of Transportation posted after 3 p.m.
All lanes had been reopened by 5 p.m.
