Fenway Park concession staff formally on strike, as Purple Sox face Dodgers in scorching sequence

Fenway Park concession staff are formally on strike, because the Purple Sox are set to face the Dodgers in a scorching sequence this weekend.

The union warned that they might go on strike at 12 p.m. on Friday if a contract deal was not reached with Aramark and Fenway Park.

MGM concession staff are additionally a part of the strike.

“BREAKING NEWS at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark: As of 12 noon today, @Aramark workers @fenwaypark and @MGMMusicHallworkers are ON STRIKE for the entire @RedSox vs @Dodgers homestand! #OnStrike,” posted the union UNITE HERE Native 26.

The union has been urging followers to not cross the picket traces in the course of the weekend sequence — telling them to not purchase any meals or drinks whereas contained in the park.

The Native 26 union, representing cashiers, cooks, barbacks, memento distributors, utility staff and extra at MGM Music Corridor and Fenway park, voted by 95% to authorize a strike in June.

This strike marks the first-ever in park’s 113-year historical past.

A spokesperson for Aramark mentioned in a press release, “We have bargained in good faith and are disappointed the union rejected our latest offer and chose to call a strike. We are committed to delivering an outstanding fan experience and have contingency plans in place to ensure fans will not encounter service interruptions.”
