Holy cow: Maine State Police take away escaped cattle from turnpike

Maine State Police responded to an udderly ridiculous crash earlier this week.

Police had been known as to Exit 79 on the state turnpike in Lewiston at round 11:30 a.m. Monday for a report of an incident involving a pickup truck hauling a cattle trailer.

Positive sufficient, 4 cows had escaped trailer confinement, although the three that fell from the improperly secured trailer suffered accidents together with highway rash and one damaged leg. A fourth simply staggered out and walked into the encircling woods when the driving force, Dustin Bubar, 39, of Stetson, Maine, stopped to cope with the issue.

Fortunately, and presumably by bovine intervention, not one of the cattle died within the state of affairs.

Troopers had been assisted on the scene by animal management officers with the Lewiston Police Division, in addition to passersby.

“Troopers secured one of the cows by tying it to the back of his cruiser, using a buddy system to help calm the other animals and prevent further movement,” the Maine State Police wrote in an announcement posted to Fb.

Police cited Bubar for unsecured load on a car.
