Honoring Massachusetts’ Fallen Heroes (Pictures)

Boston kicked off Memorial Day weekend with a rededication of the Seaport’s memorial to the Commonwealth’s fallen heroes.

It was Saturday’s capstone of the group Massachusetts Fallen Heroes’ “Patriot Week,” which started every week earlier.

The group describes itself as “a bunch of Fight Veterans who’ve served in Iraq and Afghanistan, we’re dedicated to memorializing our fellow service members who didn’t return residence to their households.

“So far, we’ve raised funds, created a first-of-its-kind memorial, developed the Veteran’s Edge program to assist Veterans, and created a network of support and programs for our Gold Star Families.”

The Memorial in Boston’s Seaport neighborhood broke floor in 2014 and facilities across the Beacon of Honor, a 50-foot obelisk with 5 sides to suggest the varied army branches.
