An 1,800-pound horse in “significant distress” was reportedly saved by native firefighters and equine rescue personnel on Sunday.
West Newbury firefighters responded to 2 Georgetown Street for a report of a horse in misery at round midday on Sunday.
“Upon arrival, first responders saw a 1,800-lb. Belgian Draft horse, Summer, that was down on the floor of a barn stall in significant distress,” officers mentioned in an announcement.
The firefighters labored with specialty equine rescue personnel and the horse’s boarders to get the large animal upright.
After about 90 minutes, Summer time was up and being cared for by emergency veterinarians.
The Amesbury Fireplace Division and Atlantic Ambulance joined West Newbury firefighters and different personnel on the scene.
The Essex County Technical Rescue Staff offered steering to groups on scene.
“I would like to thank our amazing group of West Newbury first responders and the equine community in and around West Newbury for all of their assistance,” Fireplace Chief Michael Dwyer mentioned. “This operation involved teamwork between multiple agencies and many individuals. Because of that joint effort, Summer was rescued.”
