Prepare for a sweeping new historic saga. The upcoming sequence Chief of Warfare, led by and co-created by Jason Momoa, is ready to premiere with its first two episodes on Friday, August 1. New episodes will observe weekly every Friday, wrapping up its nine-episode run by September 19.
The newly launched trailer provides a strong glimpse into the sequence, spotlighting Momoa as Ka’iana, a fearless warrior decided to convey the Hawaiian islands collectively amid rising threats from international forces. The footage hints at a gripping story of resistance, resilience, and cultural id.
Advised by an indigenous lens, the sequence provides what’s being known as “an epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii,” making it one of many few dramas to heart Native Hawaiian views in such a daring and cinematic method.
Becoming a member of Momoa is a stellar ensemble of predominantly Polynesian actors, together with Luciane Buchanan (The Evening Agent), Temuera Morrison (The Ebook of Boba Fett), Te Ao o Hinepehinga (Breakwater), Cliff Curtis (Worry the Strolling Lifeless), and Moses Items (NCIS: Hawai’i). Additionally featured are Siua Ikale‘o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka, Benjamin Hoetjes, and newcomer Kaina Makua.
Chief of Warfare marks one other collaboration between Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who co-created the sequence and beforehand penned the 2018 motion movie Braven, which starred Momoa.
