JD Vance Says ‘More Indictments’ Coming After Comey

Date:

Vice President JD Vance says the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey isn’t “all political” whereas warning it gained’t be the ultimate one.

Vance made the feedback whereas showing on “Fox News Sunday” the place newscaster Martha MacCallum requested him if he thinks “there are more indictments coming.”

“There will certainly be more indictments coming over the next 3 1/2 years of the Trump administration, but we’re always going to let the law drive this stuff and the facts of the case, and not political motivations,” Vance mentioned.

Comey was indicted final week on obstruction expenses and making a false assertion associated to his congressional testimony earlier than the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2020 relating to the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference within the 2016 election. Comey is ready to look for arraignment on Oct. 9.

Vance informed MacCallum that “we’re not letting politics drive this, we’re letting the requirements of the justice system and the law drive this.”

“And to the people that are saying this is all political, if you look at our track record in the Trump administration, there have been people who have been prosecuted who have been political allies who agree with our politics,” he mentioned.

Vance argued that it’s “preposterous” for anybody to consider that Comey’s indictment is “driven by politics.”

“Unfortunately for James Comey, when I look at this indictment, I see a guy who lied under oath – and he’ll have his day in court [and] he’ll have his opportunity to prove the other case in front of the jury,” he defined. “But the idea that this is driven by politics, I think, is preposterous when you actually read the details of the indictment and the obvious fact that James Comey did lie under oath to Congress multiple times.”

Whereas talking about Comey, Vance then switched his sights to take purpose at former President Joe Biden.

“Frankly [it] makes us so much different than the Biden administration where they indicted not just the president of the United States, but so many people who were just engaged in the basic job of politics, who were engaged in policy making, [and] who disagreed with the Biden administration,” he mentioned. “And because of that they faced prosecution from that same administration.”

Throughout Biden’s time period within the White Home, the Division of Justice indicted a number of Democrats, together with Biden’s son Hunter Biden. Hunter was later pardoned by his father in late 2024 for federal tax and gun-related offenses.

Final week, Comey responded to the indictment in a video on social media.

“My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump, but we couldn’t imagine ourselves living any other way,” he mentioned within the video. “We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn’t either. Somebody that I love dearly recently said that fear is the tool of a tyrant and she’s right, but I’m not afraid and I hope you’re not either.”

Comey continued, “I hope instead you are engaged, you are paying attention and you will vote like your beloved country depends upon it, which it does.”

Wrapping up his message, Comey added, “My heart is broken for the Department of Justice, but I have great confidence in the federal judicial system, and I’m innocent, so let’s have a trial. And keep the faith.”
