Is a “divorce album” on the horizon for Jessica Simpson?
That’s the query on many followers’ minds after Simpson dropped a brand new single, “Leave,” with lyrics that seemingly allude to a romantic companion’s infidelity.
“What we had was magic, now you made it tragic,” she sings on the country-tinged monitor, unveiled Friday. “Your weakness made me lonely, unholy matrimony … Did you do to her what you did to me? Was she on her knees?”
The tune’s refrain takes a fair racier flip, with Simpson proclaiming: “I’d rather die than let you be inside me with her on your mind.”
In a pair of Instagram posts touting the discharge of “Leave” this week, Simpson described the tune as “my most vulnerable track yet.”
“Evolvin’ as an artist means embracin’ the hard truths,” she wrote, later including: “It feels good to finally share this piece of my heart with y’all.”
The disclosing of “Leave” comes simply weeks after Simpson and husband Eric Johnson confirmed they’d break up after 10 years of marriage.

“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson stated in a Jan. 14 assertion. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them.”
“We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family,” she continued.
Johnson and Simpson share three kids: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.
“Leave” will seem on “Nashville Canyon: Part 1,” a five-song EP that marks Simpson’s first launch of authentic music since her 2008 album, “Do You Know.” It’s due out March 21, with “Nashville Canyon: Part 2” set to comply with this summer season.
In a behind-the-scenes video posted Friday to YouTube, the singer and tv character stated the tune “was tapping into some stuff that was scary to tap into, but I needed to get it out.”
She went on to thank cowriters Lucie Silvas and John Osborne, who she stated “gave me hope in a hard situation.”
