Jonathan Mayers, Co-Founding father of Bonnaroo and Exterior Lands, Lifeless at 51

Jonathan Mayers, the co-founder of Bonnaroo and Exterior Lands, has died on the age of 51, the festivals introduced this week.

Mayers was a driving inventive drive behind the occasions, two of North America’s most beloved music festivals. He co-founded Superfly Entertainment and helped launch Bonnaroo in 2002, which rapidly turned a mannequin for community-driven competition experiences.

Six years later, Mayers helped carry Exterior Lands to life in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the place his mix of creativeness and element reworked the house into one of many Bay Space’s high music festivals. From the whimsical bridge on the Lands Finish stage and the Ranger Dave statue, his imaginative and prescient formed the competition’s playful ethos.

A explanation for loss of life for Mayers has not but been revealed.

Bonnaroo’s proprietors introduced they’re honoring the late exec by planting a tree on the competition’s grounds, colloquially known as “The Farm,” in his reminiscence. Additionally they paid homage on social media, calling him a “creative force” and thanking him for many years of inspiration. Bonnaroo returns tomorrow, June twelfth.
