A 17-year-old boy who had been lacking for days was reportedly discovered lifeless in a North Shore pond Tuesday afternoon, in response to officers.
A physique tentatively recognized as Lynn teenager Brian Lopez was present in Walden Pond close to the Saugus/Lynnfield line, the Essex DA and Lynn police chief informed reporters.
“Sadly, the outcome was not what we wanted when he was discovered in Walden Pond late this afternoon,” Lynn Police Chief Christopher Reddy stated.
“Unfortunately, the family is now dealing with a tragedy,” stated Essex District Legal professional Paul Tucker.
Police had been trying to find the 17-year-old boy after he was reported lacking Friday night. His household and mates had informed police that Lopez preferred to spend time in Lynn Woods.
His physique was discovered there after folks going fishing on Tuesday noticed him within the water and notified Saugus Police.
The physique was tentatively recognized as Lopez by his clothes and a few private equipment.
Officers don’t suspect foul play in his loss of life.
“There’s no threat to the public,” Tucker stated. “We don’t believe anybody else was involved.”
Lynn Police, Lynn Hearth, and Massachusetts State Police performed in depth searches of Lynn Woods. These businesses utilized the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, drones, Okay-9 search canine, mountain bicycles, ATVs and foot searches.
