Lady dies of accidents in 4-alarm home fireplace in Georgetown

A girl died after being trapped inside a large Georgetown home fireplace Saturday evening, Georgetown Hearth Chief Matt McKay reported Sunday morning.

Georgetown firefighters responded to a report of a giant home fireplace at 238 East Important St. simply earlier than 11 p.m. Saturday evening, the division stated in a report early Sunday.

On the scene, firefighters discovered “heavy flames shooting about 20 feet high from the roof of the 2.5-story wood-frame, single-family home,” Georgetown Hearth stated.

Three residents had evacuated safely from the house, the division stated. One girl was nonetheless inside.

Responders entered the house and located the lady on the second flooring, affected by “serious injuries,” the discharge stated. Firefighters took her by way of a second-floor window and down a ladder.

The sufferer was taken in an ambulance to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. The girl was later pronounced useless, the division reported Sunday.

The sufferer’s identification has not but been launched Sunday morning.

Responders escalated the hearth to a second alarm earlier than 11 p.m., bringing in additional groups from surrounding communities, the division stated. The fireplace saved spreading “rapidly” and three and 4 alarms had been shortly struck.
