Lana Del Rey’s “Brooklyn Baby,” featured on her wildly common 2014 LP Ultraviolence, has grow to be the newest monitor from the singer to affix Spotify’s unique Billions Membership.
The monitor which was co-written by Lana and Barrie O’Neill, featured manufacturing from trade veteran Dan Auerbach, celebrated for his work in The Black Keys and for his label, Simple Eye Sound. The music, in accordance with Del Rey, was written for Lou Reed. A Guardian story from that period defined: “He’d [Lou Reed] wanted to work with Del Rey and so she’d flown over to New York to meet him. ‘I took the red eye, touched down at 7am … and two minutes later he died,’ she says.” The monitor includes a touching tribute to the singer, as Lana sings: “And my boyfriend’s in a band/ He plays guitar while I sing Lou Reed.”
In a canopy story with The Fader, she mirrored on one other line that was directed on the man she was courting on the time. She sings, “Yeah, my boyfriend’s really cool/ But he’s not as cool as me.” Throughout her dialog with the journal, she defined in regards to the chorus: “That wasn’t even supposed to be there, and I kind of sang it with a smile, and Dan [Auerbach] was looking at me and laughing. I’m just kind of f_____g around.”
Since its launch, the monitor has been licensed Platinum and topped Billboard’s Effervescent Underneath Sizzling 100 Singles chart.
“Brooklyn Baby” isn’t the one latest Lana Del Rey monitor to realize a major landmark on Spotify, neither is it the one Ultraviolence lower to take action. Again in Might, one other music from that LP, “West Coast,” joined the Membership. On the time, it grew to become the fifth music to earn the standing with Spotify, following “Young And Beautiful,” “Video Games,” “Summertime Sadness,” and “Stargirl Interlude” with The Weeknd. “Brooklyn Baby” is now the sixth. Moreover, again in August, “Summertime Sadness” reached the 2 billion stream plateau.
New music is on the way in which from Del Rey, too, who has been teasing tracks from her tenth album, Range. In August, she spoke with W and confirmed the brand new album title (beforehand to be known as The Proper Individual Will Keep), whereas noting that it “will likely be released at the end of January.”
