Man, 70, killed by firework explosion in Wareham

A 70-year-old man was reportedly killed setting off fireworks when one exploded in his face on a Wareham seashore throughout Fourth of July celebrations, the Plymouth DA and State Fireplace Marshal introduced Saturday.

Simply after 9 p.m. Friday, a 911 name alerted Wareham Police of an individual hit by a firework at 34 Seaside St., officers stated.

On the scene, Wareham first responders positioned a person with “an apparent facial injury from a firework,” the DA’s workplace stated. The sufferer, recognized as Robert Spagnuolo, 70, of Wareham, was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

“After interviewing several witnesses on scene, investigators determined that Spagnuolo was setting off fireworks at the beach when one exploded in his face, causing traumatic injuries,” the DA’s workplace stated.

The state Workplace of the Chief Medical Examiner is predicted to find out the trigger and method of Spagnuolo’s dying, officers stated Saturday.

Native police introduced in investigators with the Plymouth County DA’s workplace, the State Police Bomb Squad and the Massachusetts Fireplace Marshal’s Workplace. An investigation into the Fourth of July incident stays ongoing.
