Massachusetts Girls’s Newbie Championship discipline all the way down to eight in Williamstown

The sphere within the 121st Massachusetts Girls’s Newbie Championship has been whittled all the way down to eight.

To outlive, gamers needed to win two matches Wednesday at Taconic Golf Membership in Williamstown. Among the many survivors have been medalist Mekhala Costello and two of the three Smith sisters of Westford, Morgan and Molly.

Morgan Smith, the 2022 champion, is the lone champ nonetheless within the discipline.

At 8 a.m., Costello (Blue Hill CC) will face Megan Buck (Thorny Lea GC), adopted by Amy Lyon (Winchester CC) vs. Julia Imai (KOHR Golf), Morgan Smith (Mt. Nice GC) vs. Christine Mandile (Winchester CC), and Molly Smith (Lengthy Meadow GC) vs. Katherine Ng (Nehoiden GC).

Morgan and Molly Smith weren’t challenged Wednesday. Their youthful sister, Maddie, was eradicated within the Spherical of 32.

If each Smiths win their morning matches, they’ll conflict within the afternoon in a semifinal. An 18-hole ultimate Friday will decide the champion.
