A highschool scholar was arrested after reportedly bringing a realistic-looking gun to highschool on Monday, in keeping with police.
The Braintree Excessive College scholar was arrested and sanctions are pending after the incident early Monday.
A Braintree Police college useful resource officer was approached by a witness — who reported that one other scholar had a handgun. The witness stated he noticed the gun.
The officer instantly alerted his supervisors and college directors, resulting in a shelter-in-place on the college.
“Braintree Police Officers and school staff were able to separate the student, where officers detained the student without incident,” police stated in an announcement. “The student was cooperative, and a search revealed a realistic-looking air soft type pistol in the student’s coat.”
The coed’s identify was not launched.
“This incident serves as an important reminder of the effectiveness of school safety protocols and the critical role of collaboration between school staff and law enforcement,” police stated. “It also underscores the value of trust and communication between those students, staff, and School Resource Officers in maintaining a safe and secure school environment.”
