Massachusetts man accused of raping girl, threatening to report her to ICE

A Chelsea man is accused of raping a lady at knifepoint after which threatening to report her to ICE if she contacted police, in response to officers.

Alfredo Romero-Cortez, 48, was arrested and charged with aggravated rape, assault and battery on a family member, assault with a harmful weapon, and intimidating a witness.

Chelsea Police responded Saturday afternoon to Brigham and Girls’s Hospital in Boston. Cops spoke to the 35-year-old alleged sufferer who informed them she had been assaulted and raped by Romero-Cortez on July 4.

She informed police that she and Romero-Cortez had been about to have consensual intercourse when Romero-Cortez reportedly grew to become indignant as a result of she stated he wanted to put on a condom.

“The victim said Romero-Cortez slapped her three times in the face, pulled her by her arm, and then produced a cream-colored pocketknife,” in response to the Suffolk DA’s workplace. “She said Romero-Cortez told her she ‘better do what he says’ while threatening her with the knife. She told police Romero-Cortez then raped her.”

She informed police that she wished to report the assault, however that Romero-Cortez allegedly informed her he would report her to ICE if she did.

She stated she feared being separated from her younger daughter, so she didn’t contact police. She then left Romero-Cortez’s Hooper Avenue condo.

The following morning, she went to work however left early as a result of she didn’t really feel effectively. She went to the hospital for therapy, and informed a nurse in regards to the incident.

The hospital then contacted Chelsea Police.

Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden praised the hospital for alerting authorities “on behalf of a victim too frightened—and understandably so—to take such action herself.”
