A Massachusetts state lawmaker says he’s “lucky” to have prevented critical accidents on his commute to Beacon Hill after a Quincy man allegedly crashed into him and fled the scene.
Rep. Steven Xiarhos — a Republican who represents Sandwich and elements of Barnstable and Bourne — was concerned within the hit-and-run on Route 3 in Braintree, whereas en path to the State Home from Cape Cod, at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
“Another driver, operating recklessly at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of Rep. Xiarhos’ vehicle on the highway and narrowly missed colliding with a nearby motorcycle,” Xiarhos’ workplace posted on social media Thursday afternoon.
Xiarhos instructed the Herald that the Massachusetts State Police arrested Jacob Bennett, 34, in Quincy after the suspect fled the scene. The consultant didn’t undergo accidents that required a hospital go to, and he was capable of take part within the day’s formal session.
