Massachusetts State Police trooper ‘seriously injured’ by hit-and-run driver: Police

A trooper working a visitors cease was “seriously injured” by a hit-and-run driver on the Mass Pike Tuesday morning, in accordance with police.

The Massachusetts State Police is in search of the general public’s assist in the investigation after the hit-and-run crash in Western Mass.

“Shortly after 2:20 a.m. this morning, a vehicle struck and seriously injured a Trooper working a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 90 west near exit 51 in Chicopee,” State Police mentioned in an announcement. “The operator did not remain on scene in the aftermath of the crash.”

State Police personnel assigned to Troop B and fireplace officers responded to the scene, closed all westbound lanes, and helped with the transport for the injured trooper through EMS to Baystate Medical Heart — which is a degree 1 trauma middle.

Troopers assigned to the Collision Evaluation and Reconstruction Part, the Crime Scene Companies Part, and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Legal professional’s Workplace responded to the scene as a part of the continuing investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
