Max Richter Declares New Album ‘In A Landscape’

Date:

Composer Max Richter has introduced the forthcoming launch of his new album, In A Panorama, as properly debuting the document’s first single, the softly swelling pastoral piece “Movement, Before All Flowers.”

Richter approached this work as a revisitation of themes first explored 20 years in the past on his second album, The Blue Notebooks. “For me, the music on the record is about connecting or reconciling polarities,” Richter says in a press release on the information. “The electronics with the acoustic instruments, the natural world with the human world, and the big ideas of life with the personal and intimate. This is a dynamic I started to explore in my 2004 record The Blue Notebooks, and the new project shares many of that album’s concerns; in a way this record is another look at the themes of the earlier work, but from the perspective of our world and our lives in 2024.” The world has shifted dramatically within the 20 years since The Blue Notebooks had been written – partially as a response to the Iraq Warfare – however the necessity of musical connection stays as wanted as ever.

Richter will launch a world tour behind the album on Sept. 7 through the multidisciplinary arts pageant La Bâtie in Geneva, Switzerland which can proceed via the spring of 2025.
