MBTA fires 2 extra staff amid Cabot Yard investigation, company confirms

The MBTA fired two extra staff in connection to a prison investigation into allegations they had been engaged on private or non-public automobiles throughout work hours at a practice yard in South Boston, the company confirmed to the Herald Saturday.

Company officers have let go a complete of eight staff, with the most recent terminations happening about three weeks in the past, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo stated. One worker has acquired a multi-day suspension and two others stay on administrative depart whereas the probe continues, Pesaturo stated.

MBTA Normal Supervisor Phillip Eng stated the alleged actions on the company’s Cabot Yard facility not solely “discredit” the staff and their households but additionally their colleagues.

“That’s something that we are going to continue to stress internally. That’s not acceptable. And when we identify those things, if those are occurring, we’re going to take swift action. “We are taking these allegations very seriously, as we have an obligation to the public we serve and to our workforce to ensure that every employee meets the highest standards of conduct. We will continue to take all necessary actions to ensure accountability based on the findings of the investigation and prevent a situation like this from happening again,” he stated.
