Melodic Bass Meets Existential Angst in KDrew's Beautiful Single, "Where Do We Go?"

KDrew is at his most susceptible in “Where Do We Go?,” his gorgeous new single out now by way of Hegemon Choose.

The file arrives sizzling on the heels of the acclaimed producer and singer-songwriter’s monitor “Hysteria,” which dropped in late-June. And similar to that launch, it is a masterstroke of aching, vocal-driven bass music.

Entwining with guitar plucks awash in distortion, the lyrics of “Where Do We Go?” learn like a survival information for the metaphysically stranded. With evocative cosmic references, KDrew’s voice surfs atop waves of synthesized chaos, a lone astronaut musing, “Are we in hell or under stars?”

Spoiler: it is each, at all times. KDrew asks large questions, however he would not draw back from the vertigo of all of it: “We fought off the antidote that tried to pull us down below / But where do we go from here?” he belts.

In the meantime, his manufacturing is as sharp as ever, swallowing listeners complete and spitting them out into an abyss of bass-powered introspection. The monitor’s melodic drops plunge us right into a wormhole of complextro sound design, their frantic synths mirroring the existential angst of its lyricism and leaving a path of glitchy euphoria of their wake.
